List Your Property Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in listing your property in the California Film Commission’s production location database. Please read all guidelines below before submitting your listing via the CinemaScout submission tool If your submission is approved after review, your property will be publicly viewable on our CinemaScout website.

Effective 5/9/2024

Submitted locations will not be accepted if they do not meet the guidelines below:

  • Properties currently for sale or rent will not be accepted. We will not include links to Real Estate Offices/Brokerages, or photos with the MLS/CRISNET logo.
  • Images provided should showcase as much visual information as possible about the exterior and interior look of the location.  If interior use of your location is not allowed be sure to include that in the “usage restrictions” otherwise listings without interior photos will not be accepted.
  • Wide shots, from multiple angles of the exterior and interior are best. Also, wide shots of landscapes/nature are best. No tall shots.
  • If your property has unique features, please capture them.  All images should be free from displaying people, posed models, toilets, and food storage. Close-ups of any plants will not be accepted.
  • Do not submit pdf files, brochures, or artist renderings. We will accept a pdf map of the location.
  • We will not include links to businesses not associated with the location.
  • If you have multiple locations to submit, each property with a different address must be submitted separately.
  • If you are a budget-friendly location for independent filmmakers, please note that in your property description.

You will be required to verify contact information accuracy at least once a year. If you do not respond to our email request within 30 days, your location will be deleted from the database, and you will need to re-submit. New photos will be required every 5 years.  If the property has not changed and quality photos with accurate coverage of the location were submitted, then you may not need to re-submit photos.
